Skarven
Skarven Kro is the house’s most informal place – licensed to sell beer and wine. We also serve simple dishes like seal lasagne, seaweed and shellfish soup, fresh mussels, reindeer soup and beef casserole, along with fresh waffles, lefse (a thin pancake served buttered and rolled) and other treats. You will find both local residents and visitors of all types here. Spacious!
Skarven Kro is open daily from 11am, including on Sundays. There is space for around 160 guests inside and just as many outside when tables and chairs are set up outside on the terrace from around April 20 to October 1.
At this time of the year it’s possible to sit outside in the sun and enjoy the same treats that are served inside. If you are used to the Northern Norwegian summer, remember your woollen gloves! If you forget to bring your woollen gloves – and other warm clothes – we can lend you a rug!

Biffhuset
Skarven’s BiffHus is based on the agricultural side and serves steaks of various sizes and varieties in addition to pork, chicken and lamb. Vegetables and salads are of course also available. Kid (baby goat) is another of our specialties, but unfortunately this is often in short supply.
Skarven’s BiffHus is open daily from 3:30pm. The restaurant seats 80 guests and is fully licensed.
”Skolestua” is located on the second floor of the building housing BiffHuset. This comprises a teacher’s office and a classroom. This venue is used as an aperitif and cognac bar and seats 16 guests.

Arctandria
As its name suggests, Arctandria Seafood Restaurant is a seafood restaurant serving only seafood. We also serve reindeer caught swimming on the road on the way to its summer grazing site.
You will find lots of good fish, shellfish, whale meat, seal meat and shark. Smoked and salted seal meat is one of our specialties, and served together with some seaweed remoulade, you have genuine party food. Grilled stockfish is also a dish that has become extremely popular – and is now the top selling dish at Arctandria.
Arctandria Seafood Restaurant is open from 4pm from Monday to Saturday and is closed on Sundays. We have seating capacity for 80 guests and the restaurant is fully licensed.

Skarven Bar
Skarven Bar is located on the ground floor of BiffHuset. Prior to the introduction of the Act banning smoking in restaurants and bars, this was BiffHuset’s smoke-free zone. Skarven Bar is fully licensed and is open from 6pm daily except Sundays and Mondays. A pre-dinner aperitif or an after dinner coffee avec is part of the concept. Cocktails, coffee, wine, beer and other drinks are also served.
You will hear background music from a host of Tromsø artists including Lene Marlin, Hangface, Jørn Hoel, Steinar Albrigtsen, Frost, Elias Jung, Bel Canto, Espen Lind, Røyksopp and Anneli Drecker.

Kulinarisk Teater
Skarven’s Culinary Theatre features a guest kitchen, course and demonstration kitchen, research kitchen and function venue.
The guest kitchen is a combination of a course and your own effort. The host and guest work combine to tailor a programme for the afternoon or evening. This may comprise a course about how to make Skarven’s fish soup or a three or four course meal based on the Arctic kitchen, concluding with the course participants/guests eating together. We collaborate to create a programme based on your choice of main raw ingredients.
A culinary course may also be combined with a wine course. Wines courses also serve as an excellent start – an aperitif prior to the culinary course.
Culinary and wine courses are organised by prior arrangement for groups, teams, clubs, organisations, companies and the like looking to do something together, learn a bit about food and strengthen the team spirit.
Skarven’s Culinary Theatre also organises Arctic culinary courses open for enrolment from individuals. Check our website for more information. These courses are ideal for anyone interested in food and/or wine. Season: year-round (except July). Price: culinary course from NOK 675 per person excluding drinks. Minimum group size: eight.
